From October 27–30, 2024, SYMPHONY PhD candidate Diaz Prameyllawati attended the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM) conference in Boston, presenting her research on the care organization and costs of delivering gene therapy for hemophilia in the Netherlands.

During a two-hour poster session at the SMDM conference, Diaz engaged in thoughtful discussions with decision scientists. The conversations explored the challenges of creating process maps and examined differences between healthcare and reimbursement systems in the Netherlands and the USA. Interestingly, there was also poster presentation at the conference focused on the cost-effectiveness of prophylaxis with efanesoctocog alfa for individuals with hemophilia A. Together, these presentations underscored the ongoing advancements in hemophilia treatment, reflecting the intersection of innovation and decision science in improving patient care.

Diaz’s participation highlighted SYMPHONY’s contribution to advancing understanding in healthcare decision-making and demonstrated the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing evolving challenges in treatment delivery.
